Transfer crafting — upgrade instead of starting over
The rule that inverts how you treat abyss and balaur gear: enhancement, amplification and soul binding carry into the next set. And what the step actually costs.
Values from the TW version, not yet verified against the EU version8 min
There is a rule that holds everywhere else on this site: do not invest in gear you are going to hand back. It is on the enhancement page, on the theostone page, in every warning about upgrading at the wrong time.
For two gear lines it does not hold. That is what this page is about.
Where it lives

Blacksmithing → Transfer Crafting. Two tabs on top, Weapons and Abyss, and below them a row by weapon type: greatsword, longsword, dagger, mace, fist, guard, abyss.
The list on the left carries both worlds side by side:
| Line | Examples | For |
|---|---|---|
| Guardian | Guardian Tribunus Guard | PvP, from the abyss |
| Dragon Lord | Splendent True Dragon Lord, White Dragon Lord | PvE, the balaur line |
So it is not an abyss side door. It is the road on which entire gear lines in Aion 2 move up a step.
The sentence that changes everything
In the middle of the window, set small and easy to miss:
The enhancement, amplification, and Soul Binding levels of the transfer material will be carried over to the crafted item. The crafted item will also be Soul Bound to the character who crafted it.
Enhancement, amplification and soul binding carry over. What you put into the old piece is sitting in the new one afterwards.
Below it comes the second important line: This crafting is guaranteed to succeed. No roll, no risk of loss, no protection stone.

That is not a promise from a patch note but the screen after the click: a +15 Guardian Centurion went in, a +15 Guardian Tribunus Guard came out.
What the step costs

For T2 → T3 on the guard, Guardian Centurion → Guardian Tribunus:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| +15 Guardian Centurion Guard | 1 |
| Abyss points | 950,000 |
| Gold medal of merit | 120 |
The 950,000 points look like the big number. They are not.
The arithmetic nobody does
Gold medals of merit cost 30,000 abyss points in the abyss shop — and are capped at ten per week per character.
Which means:
- 120 medals ÷ 10 a week = twelve weeks. For one piece of gear.
- 120 × 30,000 = 3.6 million abyss points for the medals alone, plus the 950,000 directly. Around 4.5 million per piece.
What it means for your planning
This is where the usual advice flips — but only for these two lines.
Enhancing abyss and balaur gear pays off. Not because the level itself gives so much, but because it stays. A +15 that travels through three transfers is a +15 you used three times.
Enhancing stopgap gear still does not pay off. What you wear while levelling appears in no transfer list. There the rule from the enhancement page is unchanged: spread wide, do not stack.
The bottleneck moves from farming to starting. Begin collecting medals in week one and you transfer in week twelve. Begin in week six and you transfer in week eighteen — and no farming weekend closes that gap.
The PvE half: Dragon Lord
For the Guardian set you pay in abyss points and medals. For the balaur line the material list looks entirely different — and it is why those weapons mean something in game.

Noble Dragon Lord Guard, from the Weapons tab:
| Material | Amount |
|---|---|
| Splendent Obsidian Dagger (transfer material) | 1 |
| Artisan’s Ultimate Refining Stone | 18 |
| Fine Robust Balaur Horn | 122 |
| Wrathful Belief | 40 |
| Wrathful Flame | 40 |
| Maddened Wrathful Curse | 19 |
| Radiant Orichalcum Ore (Bound) | 46 |
| Radiant Odyle (Bound) | 26 |
| Kinah | 50,000,000 |
Fifty million kinah for a single piece. That is not a figure you save up on the side — and it sits in front of every material on the list.
The other transfer: moving a level instead of upgrading a set
The enhancement window has a tab that is also called Transfer. It does something else — and because they share a name, this is the most common mix-up around here.

Here two pieces you already own sit side by side — in the screenshot a +15 Soaring Daeva Boots and a +9 Guardian Centurion Boots. The client says:
Transfers Enhance Level and Soul Binding effects. This item will be consumed if the transfer is successful. Equipped items and Preset gear cannot be used for Gear Transfer.
The difference in one table:
| Transfer crafting | Gear transfer | |
|---|---|---|
| Where | blacksmithing | enhancement, fifth tab |
| What | make the next tier of a set | move a level between two pieces |
| Needs | abyss points and medals | a gear transfer material |
| Costs | the old piece | one of the two pieces is consumed |
The window also shows Seasonal Transfer Success: 1 and below it 100 % Success Chance — so there is a seasonal allowance, and within it the move is guaranteed.
What we do not know yet
In short
- Blacksmithing → Transfer Crafting, for abyss sets and the balaur line
- Enhancement, amplification and soul binding carry over, and the craft is guaranteed
- The result is soul bound to whoever crafted it
- T2 → T3 on the guard: the +15 piece, 950,000 abyss points, 120 gold medals
- Ten gold medals a week means twelve weeks per piece — take them every week
- Manastones and the theostone are not named in the rule text
What is transfer crafting in Aion 2?
A tab in the blacksmithing window where you make the next tier of a set by feeding the piece you already own into it as material. The enhancement, amplification and soul binding of that piece carry over to the new one, and the craft is guaranteed to succeed.
Do you lose your enhancement when you upgrade gear?
Not with transfer crafting. The client says so explicitly, and the proof is on this page: a +15 Guardian Centurion comes out as a +15 Guardian Tribunus. Manastones and the theostone are not named — until that is checked, do not assume they come along.
What does the T2 to T3 abyss step cost?
For the guard: the Guardian Centurion piece you already have, 950,000 abyss points and 120 gold medals of merit. The medals are the bottleneck — the abyss shop caps them at ten per week per character.
Does transfer crafting apply to PvE gear too?
Yes. The same list carries the balaur lines — Splendent True Dragon Lord and White Dragon Lord — alongside the abyss sets. We have not photographed the cost of those recipes; the mechanic is the same.
Should I enhance abyss gear even though I will replace it?
You do not replace it, you upgrade it — and your enhancement comes with it. For the abyss and balaur lines the usual rule "do not invest in gear you will hand back" therefore does not apply.
