Soul Binding — the second stat block

Every piece of gear carries a second set of stats that only grows once you bind it. And one button that costs ten times as much.

Values from the TW version, not yet verified against the EU version4 min

A piece of gear in Aion 2 has two stat blocks. The upper one is in the tooltip from the start. The lower one only grows if you make it grow.

Enhancement window on the Soul Binding tab with binding rate and material list
On the left the soul binding rate and the effects, on the right the material. Every effect has a current value and a ceiling.

What you are looking at

At the top the soul binding rate — 31.9 % in the shot. Below it the individual effects, each with a current value, a ceiling and how far it is filled:

EffectCurrentFilled
HP259 / 29717 %
MP139 / 15252 %
Critical attack45 / 5621 %
Weapon damage boost12.99 % / 14.2 %37 %

The ceiling is fixed from the start. What you influence is the distance to it. In the tooltip of a fully bound weapon — it is on the theostone page — that same line reads 100.0 %. That is the end state this system aims at.

Three buttons, two price classes

The price difference is the whole message of this page.

The stone that awakens new abilities

Item text of the Philosopher's Stone: Revelation
The item text names the condition itself: on soul bound gear.

One inventory item belongs squarely here: the Philosopher’s Stone: Revelation. Its text says what it is for:

A mystical gemstone capable of imbuing equipment with new abilities. Use it on Soul Bound gear to awaken new power.

Which makes soul binding more than a second stat block: it is the precondition for something else. Only bound gear can be developed further this way. A piece you never bound cannot take this stone at all.

Where it pays off

The binding sits on the item, not on you. So the same rule applies as with enhancement and theostone, only with a sharper edge: everything you put in is gone the moment the piece is replaced.

So: work on permanent pieces — belt, revelation amulet, abyss accessories and the weapon you take into the endgame. Not on whatever you happen to be wearing while levelling.

In short

  • Every piece has a second stat block with a fixed ceiling
  • Bind costs 30,000 kinah, rebind 300,000 — and rebind can make things worse
  • Work on permanent pieces first, not on levelling gear
  • The target is a soul binding rate of 100 %
